Today is Day 23 of the march Slice of Life, the daily writing challenge hosted at “Two Writing Teachers”
While visiting several bloggers over the past few days, I have read some amazing book spine poetry. Maybe because it is almost 2 in the morning, but I thought I would try. I ended up with 2 poems – quite different.

Interesting. I never heard of this type of poetry before. Thank you for sharing it. Its simplicity is stunning.
Hi Jodi – it is simplicity really but can be so effective.
Words are just amazing, they are everywhere. I love this idea. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
It is fun Tracey. I’m always amazed at how people create these poems, just from titles.
I, too, am new to this type of poetry. Simple, fun, thought-provoking. And a good use of all my shelves and shelves of books! 🙂
It was fun. For me it was finding the key title to build around and then knowing my books.
The format looks easy, yet it takes still quite a bit of thought and careful selection of titles to get ideas across. You have crafted two beautiful messages.
Hi Terje – I was surprised at how quickly they formed themselves. I knew what I roughly wanted and kept juggling titles.
Women of faith is a good reminder on a Sunday morning! I love spine poetry. Perhaps I need post some pictures I took in my class this past week.
Thanks Jaana. I had planned on doing just one, then the faith books caught my eye and felt I needed to do that one as well. Will look forward to seeing yours.
This looks easy, but I’ve tried it and can get totally wrapped up in the process of finding the just right words. Love your fist one and how you have the books to support you on your journey of faith. Beautiful!
Thanks Margaret. I try to read at least one book about faith a month.
Beautifully crafted, Beverley. I love them both. Will need to do this today! Don’t forget to send it to Travis! http://100scopenotes.com/2014/03/07/be-a-part-of-the-2014-book-spine-poem-gallery/
Thanks Linda. Didn’t know about the gallery. I will send those off.
Thanks for the reminder! I had completely forgotten about Book Spine Poetry, and I can’t wait to give it another shot!! I love both of yours. They worked out beautifully and leave me wondering how many books you had to choose from and how long you spent getting them in just the right order! Beautifully done!!
You really don’t want to know how many books I have! lol Didn’t actually take too long. Once I saw the 2nd book, the others just fell into place. Thanks.
Once you start, it’s hard to stop looking at titles and thinking how can they fit together. Great job!
Hi Elsie – I know – could have kept going.
Book spine poems are so much fun to create, but are can also be quite a challenge. Yours are lovely. Thanks for sharing!
They were fun to create.
