Today is Day 17 of the March Slice of Life – the daily writing challenge hosted at “Two Writing Teachers”.
The theme for the photo challenge I am using for inspiration today is “Green”
Green is one of my favourite colours – for grass, leaves – a definite sign of spring. It is also the colour of my eyes, sometimes. It’s also the colour for St. Patrick’s Day. No green drinks for me today though.
But the green I thought of was the colour of the new/old wine glasses I just bought. I was at a thrift store and tho I don’t buy glasses there, I was struck by these ones. A set of 4, they sparkled in the window bookshelf. When I picked one up, I was struck by its heavier weight and how well it fit in my hand. Two dollars each seemed steep for a used store, but I fell in love with them.
We have used them every day since, with a glass of red wine at dinner. My husband likes them as well. They fit his hand easily.
I visit thrift stores for their books usually. When I was teaching, I went for the jackets – too much glue and paint splattered on me made these cheap jackets a necessity in the classroom. But I always look at these stores as a win –win : I come out with something and I have donated to a good cause.
