Day 9 -March Slice of Life

sols_6

Today is Day 8 of the March Slice of Life – the daily writing challenge hosted at “Two Writing Teachers”.
I am using Encyclopedia of Me; My Life from A to Z, a guided journal created by Amy Krause Rosenthal.

I for I AM
Choosing what to write today was a challenge as I did not like the topics for I. I have wanted to write an “I AM” poem for a while – and when I checked on line, this format from “Read, Write, Think” intrigued me.

I AM
I am many things
I wonder about my place in the world
I hear voices from the past
I see the faces of my parents
I want to make a difference
I am many things

I pretend to be brave
I feel chains surround me
I touch another’s aura
I worry about all the hate and violence
I cry for our world
I am many things

I understand what needs to be done
I say “Live conquers all”
I dream for a world of love and acceptance
I try to do more, be more
I hope the world improves
I am many things

  1. How nice to be doing a guided journal. I was most curious about your line, “I touch another’s aura” as it seems different than other actions and feelings expressed. I like the stanzas ending with “I am many things.”

    • Thanks.
Encyclopedia of Me is just the journal, with her prompts. It is based on her book “Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life” which I enjoy rereading parts of.

  2. I love Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s books! Love how you are using Encyclopedia of Me to guide your writing for SOL. Your poem is beautiful. I also like the line, “I am many things”!

  3. Love this slice! I’m going to give it a try, too. Thanks for linking the Read,Write, Think site as your source. I am such a fan of AKR’s and I love that her influence will never die. Beautiful.
