It’s time once again for Kathryn’s weekly meme, “It’s Monday! What are You Reading?” at Book Date, where we share what we’re reading and have read over the past week.
Well, we finally made it through to 2021. Here’s hoping we all have a healthier, easier year. Happy New Year to everyone!
What I Read Last Week
I read 7 books as well as 7 picture books –a fantasy, a romance novella, 2 science fiction books, a non-fiction book, a play and an historical fiction book.
To end the year I read:
The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline. This science fiction dystopian novel has been on my TBR for a long time. I read it and loved it. Now will read her next book asap.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Another science fiction and one that has taken me forever to read as well, Another enjoyable read.
Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. The play that inspired My Fair Lady. Finally read it!
Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. This was a reread and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.
The Spy by Paulo Coelho. Only finished this for a reading challenge. Not impressed.
To start 2021, my first two books were:
Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews. Have waited months for this and when I go it finally from the library Saturday, settled right in to read it and of course loved it. The whole series has been great. But now will have wait another year for the next! UGH!
New Year’s Eve by Samantha Young. A short romance novella I received for free today and it was an enjoyable read, just right for the holiday.
I read 7 picture books, with my favourite being:
I am Every Good Thing by Derrick Barnes, illus by Gordon C. James
What I’m Reading Now
I am reading The Happiness of Pursuit by Chris Guillebeau for a book study and should be finished next week.
Daring and the Duke by Sarah MacLean
Merry Misrule by Ellie St. Clair (won this one!)
What’s Up Next
If I Knew Then by Jann Arden
