It’s time once again for Kathryn’s weekly meme, “It’s Monday! What are You Reading?”, hosted at Book Date, where we share what we’re reading and have read over the past week.
Well, my hubby is still in hospital. He went in Dec. 28th, covid negative, with severe infection. The infection was slowly cleared although still not sure where it originated. But then there was an outbreak on his floor and guess what? He tested positive. I tested negative – so he couldn’t come home as we have no where for him to isolate properly and because he has limited mobility. Ugh. Hopefully he is home Wed (10 days isolation.). He missed New Year’s and my birthday. Double ugh.
Once again, books provided a needed escape, although I still went from book to book and didn’t finish as many this past week.
What I Read Last Week
I read 3 books ( plus 4 pbs)– 2 romances, and an historical fiction.
Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan. What an amazing book – a dual timeline, that moves between the present and 1838 when the steamship Pulaski sinks. 5+*
Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss. I finally got my copy from the library and I really enjoyed this romance.
Mr. Charming (Not) by Lindsey Hart. It started with a kiss. A fun quick romance.
I read a 4 picture books as well, as part of Storystorm)
What I’m Reading Now
Year of Yes by Shonda Rimes (for my book club)
Becoming by Michelle Obama (starting this for my book club)
What’s Up Next
5 Little Indians by Michelle Good
Oh my, now Covid. Hope you can talk on the phone or Facetime or however you do face to face. Yes Surviving Savannah was very good and informative as well. The lighter romance would be needed after it.
Thanks Kathryn. Yes, we facetime, every couple of hours. He’s in a better frame of mind today – more resigned that he has to wait 2 more days.
So sorry to hear that your husband is still stuck in the hospital. I hope he can come home Wednesday. Books are a good solace. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Thanks Kathy. We are certainly hoping so. happy reading!
So sorry to hear your husband is still in the hospital. The Year of Yes sounds intriguing. Happy reading! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/01/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-2-22.html
Thanks Cindy. I’m enjoying it so far.
I’m so sorry about your hubby! I hope he recovers quickly and you manage to avoid getting sick. I’ll have to check out the Patti Callahan book! I’m reading The Black Agenda, The Girls in the Stilt House, The Body Keeps the Score, and I just finished Danger Never Sleeps.
Thanks Anita. It has been a challenging time, really since Aug. 5 when he had a bowel resection. BUt he should be out Thurs. Those books sound intersting.
I am so glad to see you enjoyed Surviving Savannah. I am eager to read that one. I hope your husband is able to come home soon! I know it must be hard for both of you. Take care!
Thanks so much. Got good news this morning – after dialysis this aft, he is being sent home! Yeah!
