It’s Monday! What are You Reading?

It’s time once again for Kathryn’s weekly meme, “It’s Monday! What are You Reading?“, hosted at Book Date, where we share what we’re reading and have read over the past week.

On Good Friday we were exposed to someone who ended up with covid, but so far we have not had any symptoms. We have been isolating tho – even had to miss my physio. 10 days tomorrow should be the end,  I hope. Our province relaxed mandates a while ago – and now after not knowing anyone who had covid the past 2 years – I now know 4 family members who have had covid in the past 2 weeks.

It was also a week of 3 rereads – they were a definite comfort.

What I Read Last Week

I read 8 books – 2 romance 2 pix books and 4 fantasies.

I finished the final book in my favourite fantasy series – The Others by Anne Bishop:

Etched in Bone

I also reread another book in her Others world – Wild Country. Loved it again.

City of Time and Magic 56269135

City of Time and Magic by Paula Brackston. I have read the rest of the series. I’m wondering if there will be more in the series, but did enjoy this one.

Last guard 55993471

Last Guard by Nalini Singh. The latest in her Psy-Changeling Trinity series was a great fantasy read.

Singh also writes romance novels and I read 2 books in her Hard Play series (and so enjoyed them). The newest one comes out next month and I am anxious to read it.

Cherish Hard 36390029    Love Hard 50439038

Cherish Hard                                    Love Hard

I read 2 enjoyable non-fiction pix books:

Capturing Joy: The Story of Maud Lewis by Jo Ellen Bogart, illus. by Mark Lang

Think Outside the Box by Justine Avery and Liuba Syrotiuk

What I’m Reading Now

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

Dearly by Margaret Atwood

What’s Up Next

Rebel Hard by Nalini Singh

  1. Definitely a lot of reading and rereading achieved through the week Bev. Sorry to hear you were exposed to Covid but hopefully no jumping to you. I hear of more people every day of family that have or had Covid. Oh my.

    • Thanks Kathryn. It has been a strange week – checking for symptoms and avoiding people and places. But looks like it might be okay. My hubby has had 4 shots, I’ve had 3. Have a good week of reading.

  2. I wish I had more time for rereading, but so many books I haven’t read are calling to me.

Like Narnia. I’d love to revisit Narnia. Hope you are enjoying your visit.

  3. It seems like the relaxing of stricter rules is causing more folks in the past few months to get sick, but I believe it is less severe. Husband and I have double vaxx and double boost because he has some health issues that could make it difficult for him. Glad we can escape into bookish worlds without worry. Funny I never read CS Lewis before. I know all about him and what he wrote. I am not a huge fan of UF but I love The Others series and have read all but the newest. Something about her writing that hooked me in. Have a good week ahead.

    • Thanks Mia. It has been a trying time for all of us – but thank heavens for good books. Bishop has a new Others book coming out soon – Crowbones. Looks interesting. Have a great reading week.

    • Thanks Shelleyrae. We have been so careful – still wearing masks, not visiting much at all. But when there are no limits around, covid is sure to spread. Haver a great reading week yourself.

  4. When I did my last reread of the Others series, I skipped Wild Country. I do plan to read it again but I’m in the middle of another fantasy reread right now and then I have to catch up on review books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    • It was your influence that I don’t feel bad about rereading The others for a third time. It has definitely been a comfort these past 2 years. Happy reading to you as well!

  5. Ugh! So sorry you are stuck in quarantine. I know what you mean about not knowing anyone with COVID and then everyone seems to have it. That’s how it has been with us. For most of the pandemic, most of the people closest to us were able to avoid infection (even if they are anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers!). Then, in the past few months, so many people have been infected!

    Have a great week!

  6. Getting COVID seems so inevitable now that I couldn’t believe my negative test after a cruise and went for another test…still negative! My husband wants to give up on masking and other precautions now, so I’m trying to ease up, but I still worry about catching it and passing it on so I still wear a KN95 all the time at work and whenever I go into a store, etc. I did come down with a cold halfway through the cruise and kept my mask on for the rest of the week — first one in over two years, when I always used to get 5-6 a year! I like Nalini Singh but haven’t tried Paula Brackston.
