It’s time for Nonfiction November, starting with my ‘Year in Nonfiction’, hosted by Doing Dewey
I read 14 non-fiction books this year so far.
Doing Dewey has set some questions about our reading this past year::
What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year?
There were several favourite reads this past year, but 3 stood out:
The Age of Creativity by Emily Urquhart
Becoming by Michelle Obama
As You Wish by Cary Elwes,
Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year?
I prefer memoir or autobiography.
What nonfiction book have you recommended the most?
I have recommended several but especially the three listed above.
What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?
I really enjoy the recommendations from other bloggers. So many great books to discover.
I need to do this weeks post, hopefully later today once I get to my daughter’s house. I really need to read As You Wish. The Princess Bride is my daughter-in-law’s favourite movie, so I have seen it several times.
Thanks Carla. You write and read so much – I’m envious. The Princess Bribe is one of my all-time favourite movies. As You Wish certainly took me back and made the movie come more alive. Happy NF reading
Nice!
As you like memoirs, you may find some of interest for you in what I read this year:
Awesome choices!
Thanks Linda. Some I read were for our bookclub.
Thanks for sharing your nonfiction favourites!
Thanks Shelleyrae.
All three of your favorites sound good and while I’ve seen a lot of hype around the last two, I’d not heard of The Age of Creativity. I’m excited to learn more about that one! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂
Thanks so much. Looking forward to this month of NF.
Becoming was a very inspiring book to me, too. It was a little shorter than her hubby’s book. 🙂 But I enjoyed both books and look forward to President Obama’s followup book when it comes out.
Thanks Lisa Michelle Obama has a new book out as well. Looking forward to that one as well.
We all loved Becoming, I think, and the book about the Princess Bride looks delightful.
Thanks Deb. Both great books.
As You Wish is one of my favorite books – he is such a gentleman! I cannot help but love the book and the movie all the more because of his book.
I agree – loved the movie for so long before I read the novel and then As You Wish. But made me love the movie even more. All 3 are a wonderful package.
The first time I read the book (after watching the movie so many times) I was so confused about the references to Morgenstern. I actually thought this was an abridgment! I still think that is a clever hook.
It was a clever book – and it took me a while before I got the references.
