Non-Fiction November – Week 1

It’s time for Nonfiction November, starting with my ‘Year in Nonfiction’, hosted by Doing Dewey

I read 14 non-fiction books this year so far.

Doing Dewey has set some questions about our reading this past year::

What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year?

There were several favourite reads this past year, but 3 stood out:

The Age of Creativity by Emily Urquhart

Becoming by Michelle Obama

As You Wish by Cary Elwes,

Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year?

I prefer memoir or autobiography.

What nonfiction book have you recommended the most?

I have recommended several but especially the three listed above.

What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?

I really enjoy the recommendations from other bloggers. So many great books to discover.

  1. I need to do this weeks post, hopefully later today once I get to my daughter’s house. I really need to read As You Wish. The Princess Bride is my daughter-in-law’s favourite movie, so I have seen it several times.

    • Thanks Carla. You write and read so much – I’m envious. The Princess Bribe is one of my all-time favourite movies. As You Wish certainly took me back and made the movie come more alive. Happy NF reading

  2. Becoming was a very inspiring book to me, too. It was a little shorter than her hubby’s book. 🙂 But I enjoyed both books and look forward to President Obama’s followup book when it comes out.

      • The first time I read the book (after watching the movie so many times) I was so confused about the references to Morgenstern. I actually thought this was an abridgment! I still think that is a clever hook.
