FREE VERSE FRIDAY
Today begins our year long poetry practice – on the first Friday of each month, Linda and I (and anyone else who joins) wel be writing a poem based on the theme of the month and a photo taken relating to that theme.
This month the theme is “Beginning”. There are so many options.
I chose to go with the beginning of a new year and I created a journal page, in a new journal, and then photographed it. I am choosing to write 30 word poems.
Be sure to check out Linda’s poem here.
Here is my journal page and following my poem.
2023 – A New Year
A new year
Time to start fresh
Resolutions?
One Little Word?
One gets broken
One guides all year.
What will this year bring?
End to covid?
Kindness?
Peace?
New beginnings.
Please join us – anytime this month. Just add your poem and photo in the comments!
The quotes I used are listed below:
Goodbye 2022
Celebrate endings—for they precede new beginnings.”– Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Welcome 2023
The best is yet to come. -Frank Sinatra
And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been. – Rainer Maria Rilke
The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. -Melody Beattie,
Good questions indeed! I also wonder what 2023 will bring us.
I know. Let’s hope it is a good one.
I am wondering when the theme for the month will be posted. I need some motivation to start writing again.
I know all about that motivation. I can’t seem to be consistent with daily writing, even tho I do want to.
The themes for the first 3 months are:
Jan – beginnings
Feb – winter
March – green
Hope you join in – every first friday of the month.
