It’s time once again for Connect Five Friday, hosted at Book Date by Kathryn – the meme where we share five book/reading things that connect in some way.
Since June I have read quite a few books, both fiction and non-fiction. I keep a journal for the year into which I record to-do lists, books to read and words and articles I want to save. Several of the fiction books I have read since June offered some lovely quotes that I had to preserve in that journal.
Here are 5 such books and my favourite quotes from the books:
The Color of Light by Emilie Richards
“Time doesn’t free up on its own. Make yourself a priority for a change.”
Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez
“I want to savor each day. I want to enjoy every single thing I eat and drink, and all the people I meet and every last second on this Earth. I want to laugh. I want to explore. I want to live life…like a butterfly in the wind and go where the wind takes me.”
“I don’t pretend to be happy. I just refuse to be sad.”
The Irresistible Bakeshop and Café by Mary Simses
“If you keep looking, you’ll keep seeing more and more. That’s what it means to be an observer. There’s always more than you think…. You have to look at a thing from all angles before you can really see it.”
What You Wish For by Katherine Center
“I’m not happy because it comes easily to me. I bite and scratch and claw my way toward happiness every day…It’s a choice. A choice to value the good things that matter. A choice to rise above everything that could pull you down. A choice to look misery right in the eye …and then give it th4e finger.”
“Pay attention to the things that connect you with joy… Joy is an antidote to fear. To anger. To boredom. To sorrow.”
Confessions from the Quilting Circle by Maisey Yates
“Creating…isn’t about struggling to make something that looks perfect, but about the joy to be had in the journey. The same might be true of life.”
