Today is the Tuesday Slice of Life – the weekly writing challenge hosted at “Two Writing Teachers”
I have just finished another daily writing challenge, for April. In some ways, it was good to be finished – after two months of daily writing/blogging, I now have a bit of a break.
But, it has helped solidify my writing habit. I want to write and the ideas have started to flow more readily. The March SOL and the April Blogging Challenge gave me sixty days of routine, of daily writing and support.
This past month also connected me with Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Her death still seems surreal.
I used her “Encyclopedia of Me” to post daily, choosing one of her themes daily to write about some aspect of my life.
I plan to continue to fill the book, jotting down lists, observations and memories as they come. Saturday was #MoreforAKR and it was a special day to celebrate this wonderful, amazing woman.
While visiting a church bazaar, I found my #MoreforAKR – I bought lunch for an elderly woman. We then spent a lovely half hour visiting together. I left with a smile and a few books.
What a great idea!

Thanks Tammy. It was a fun project.
I must check out Encyclopedia of Me!
I’m really enjoying it. Lots of ideas and then there are some blank pages for your own input.
I too have been inspired by Amy Krauss Rosenthal. Bravo for the writing habit…..I love March and the Two Writing Teachers Challenge because I know that if I have lapsed in my writing habit, I know I will soon begin anew. It feels good doesn’t it?
It definitely does. I was just not writing much before the Mar. SOL – 2 months of daily writing (even tho they were short) has inspired me.
Congrats on two challenges back-to-back! I must check out AKR’s “Encyclopedia of Me.”
Thanks Alice. I’ve still got a lot to journal.
I’ve read Amy’s book Textbook. We are all blessed by her life. I can’t believe you made it for 2 months. I tried to do a daily poem, but ended up forgiving myself when I just couldn’t quite make it happen. But I do know how that daily practice only makes writing easier. I’m going to look back at some of your A to Z posts.
Thanks so much Margaret. It helped having the structure of A to Z – I used that for the March SOL as well. I plan to keep making entries. I hope to get Textbook – but have top read her first memoir still.
Hooray for meeting the challenges! I jumped from SOLC in March to poetry month in April. Now looking forward to letting things simmer a bit. Can’t wait to check out Encyclopedia of Me. I keep hearing how great it is. Adding to my summer reading list!
I love writing and will have to check her out. Thanks.
Thanks Debbie. I’m sure enjoying the prompts she has provided.
I just did the A to Z Challenge too. It helped me get out of the writing rut I was in and reminded me why I like blogging. Girl Who Reads
Thanks Donna. Now will read yours!
